Hello!

My name is Simona Žiher, a ceramic designer and the founder of Studio Mache.

Every piece is thoughtfully handcrafted, with a focus on functional tableware and decorative ceramics that bring beauty to everyday rituals. My journey into ceramics began during my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and continued through an exchange programme at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where I deepened my knowledge of ceramics and porcelain.

I enjoy working with a range of techniques-from slip casting and hand building to wheel throwing-allowing each collection to develop its own character. Every piece is made from high-fired stoneware or porcelain, chosen for its strength, durability, and timeless quality. Designed to be both beautiful and practical, my ceramics are made to be used and enjoyed every day, and are dishwasher safe.

In every piece I create, I strive for a balance of contemporary elegance and timeless simplicity. Inspiration comes from many places-architecture, nature, works of art, dreams, and memories-while some forms emerge through intuition alone.

My aim is to transform soft, formless clay into delicate objects with organic silhouettes and a quiet sense of refinement. This is why my collections and individual pieces are given women's names, celebrating their distinctive character and individuality.

I believe that thoughtfully designed tableware has the power to elevate everyday rituals. When ceramics and food are brought together in harmony, they create a dialogue of shape, colour, and texture that enriches the experience of sharing a meal.

My hope is that these pieces become part of life's meaningful moments-whether it's a quiet morning coffee, a carefully prepared dinner, or time spent gathered around the table with family and friends. If my work can bring a sense of beauty, warmth, and presence to those moments, then it has fulfilled its purpose.
